How Life360 Helped Beth find her Daughter

Our users at Life360 often share stories of how they’re using the app – whether it’s about how they are staying connected with their families or have peace-of-mind from monitoring new teenage drivers. The stories of gratitude we receive on a daily basis keeps us working hard to constantly improve our app. We recently connected with one of our users, Beth M., who offered to share her story about how Life360 helped her find daughter.

A couple weeks ago on a Friday night, Beth and her husband were getting ready for bed as they had work early the next morning. At 10:30pm their 16 year old daughter, Danielle, asked if she could go with her friend to say goodbye to another friend who was moving. Beth said yes, but told her daughter she had to be home by midnight. She was not expecting what was about to happen later that night.

Beth started using Life360 after her friend mentioned it to her at the grocery store one day. As Danielle was about to become a new driver, Beth thought it would be a great way to ensure her daughter was always safe and being responsible. Since her two older sons were out of the house already, she is more protective over Danielle. Beth recently tried a free trial for Driver Protect then joined shortly after. Life360 helps her have peace of mind daily, knowing that her daughter is where she is supposed to be.

Even though Danielle wasn’t too keen on having Life360, she accepted it after she realized she was able to do all the same things I could do on the app.

Later that night, Beth received a call at 1:45am from a family friend that said he got a call from Danielle. All he could understand from their conversation was something along the lines of Danielle not knowing where she was and wanting to come home. She sounded intoxicated, which really worried both Beth and their family friend.

The first thing that I thought of was Life360 to check her location. I was shocked to find out that I could get turn by turn directions to wherever she was!”

She checked Danielle’s location and it said she was about 40 minutes away from their home. Their family friend picked up Beth and her husband and they drove straight to Danielle using Life360’s directions. As they got closer to where Danielle was on the map, Beth could see Danielle’s avatar start moving. Following the app, they made their way into a nearby field, but ended up finding Danielle’s friend instead. The friend had taken Danielle’s phone to avoid getting caught being out at a party when she saw Danielle trying to call home and leave. The friend led Beth and her husband to Danielle, who was indeed very intoxicated. This was her first time drinking, and it was at a party with lots of college aged kids. All Beth could think about is what could have happened if they were not able to find her.

“I am super grateful that Life360 led me right to my daughter. I don’t know what we would have done without the app,” said Beth. She was proud of Danielle for trying to reach out for help even if it wasn’t directly to her parents. Beth was even more happy with the precision of Life360’s location.

Thank you to Beth and her entire family for letting us share your story. We’re so happy you could find Danielle and get her home safe and sound!
