New Year’s Resolutions with Life360

It’s a new year, and if you’re like most people, that means it’s time for New Year’s resolutions. While most people read “resolution” and immediately think of sweating in a gym or eating kale, it doesn’t have to be just that. It can be almost anything that you feel will make your life better in some way in the coming year.

This year, my family did something a little different. Rather than each of us focusing on individual resolutions, we’re working together as a family toward a common goal. It’s a great way to become close as a family, reach a goal, and also stay accountable. With all of us working together, we’re more likely to actually stick to our resolution, which can oftentimes be the hardest part.

So what is our big resolution for the new year? Togetherness. Our family goal for 2020 is being more organized and connected. My family’s level of business is a continual source of amazement for me. It’s such a different vibe from when I was a kid. The girls are constantly in and out of the house as they go to and from their after school and activities and seeing their friends. If I’m being honest, it’s very difficult to keep it all together. This year, we’re changing that.

Being More Connected as a Family

You would think that in a world so filled with social media of all sorts that being connected would be incredibly easy, right? Wrong. My type of connection and my girls’ type of connection are completely different. While I spend my day working, my girls watch YouTube or TikTok videos. Which ends up meaning that we’re connected, but not to each other. We’re just in the same room – existing in the same space.

This year, we’re changing that and using our phones to connect with each other instead of everything else for a change. We’ve made it our mission to text each other more and share funny or interesting things we love like memes and videos with everyone else in the family so we can all enjoy them together. There’s no getting around the fact that our world is tech-centric, so rather than fight it, we’re embracing it. Instead of a dramatic – and unsuccessful – band on technology for certain hours, we’re using technology to bring us closer together, find common interests, and just have more fun with each other.

This year, we’ve decided to use the Life360 app to help us be more aware and connected, as well. That starts with always knowing just what the heck everyone is even doing in the day! Instead of calling or texting, frustratedly waiting for an answer, we can look at our family circle on the app and find out where everyone is in a second. It saves so much time and anxiety. I have to say, as a mom, I love this.

Being More Organized as a Family

While forging a better family connection is our main focus this year, we’re also working toward being more organized as a family, as well. Using the Life360 app is one big step we’re taking to make that happen.

Now that our girls are older, they’re coming into their own and starting to have their own lives and make their own plans. Rather than writing down everything, I can use the Life360 app to do all the hard work for me. With the touch of my finger, I can see where everyone is, infer what they are up to, and know when they are on their way home. Amazing. Bonus? It makes me feel included in their day when I see them on the map!

So far, our 2020 is off to a great start. We’re already rocking our New Year’s resolution of being more connected and organized in our lives and in our home. It’s taken away the worry and wonder of “who’s supposed to be where and when” and replaced it with more time for us to just sit and relax together. Take charge of your home connecting and organize this year easily, as well. It’s one of the best decisions you’ll make for your family this year.
