Love is in the Air: Life360 Acquires Couple, The App for Two

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 12, 2016 Life360, the leading Family Network used by more than 55 million families, announced today that it has acquired Couple, the app for two that keeps busy couples connected. Since its launch in 2012, Couple has attracted millions of users to its app for iPhone and Android and has helped couples send over four billion messages to each other.

“We are excited to have Couple join the Life360 family,” said Itamar Novick, Chief Business Officer of Life360. “We share a mission to better connect people with their loved ones. The team at Couple has built a great product loved by millions of highly engaged users. This acquisition represents a strategic alignment of our audiences as couples make up a significant percentage of our user base at Life360. Also, we can’t think of a better day than Valentine’s Day to announce that we will continue to support the Couple app.”

Couple will continue to operate as a distinct app. The team plans to build a migration path within the app to Life360 for couples who have children and are ready to use a Family Network app with their whole family. Oleg Kostour, co-founder and CEO of Couple, Jake Schwartz, Lead Engineer, and Andrew Jasso, Lead Designer, have joined the Life360 team and will continue to support and further develop the Couple app from Life360’s offices in San Francisco.

“For the past four years, we have been relentlessly focused on creating the highest-quality product for couples,” said Oleg Kostour, co-founder and CEO of Couple. “Life360 is a perfect fit for Couple because of their tremendous expertise in the family space, and their focus on users with high-trust relationships. We are excited to join the talented team at Life360 and are excited about the future for Couple.”

Couple enables couples to connect with the most important person in their life for a private messaging experience, with special moments saved privately in one place. Couples can express themselves with video, audio, photos and stickers; be close, even when apart with Thumbkiss; and do everything from one app: share to-do lists, set reminders, make phone calls, send messages, share their location, suggest places to go out to on dates nights, and more.

Couple got its start at Y-Combinator and is also backed by SV Angel, CrunchFund, Ashton Kutcher’s A-Grade Investments, Dave Morin, Yuri Milner, Founder Collective, Lerer Ventures, Betaworks, Michael Birch, Paul Buchheit, Alexis Ohanian, Garry Tan, Gary Vaynerchuk and other strategic angel investors.
